Jalandhar City Junction --- It is the oldest city in Punjab & was the capital of Punjab from 1947 till 1953. The station opened in 1870 with the opening of Amritsar-Ambala-Saharanpur-Ghaziabad line built by The Sind, Punjab and Delhi railway. The Firozpur Cantonment-Jalandhar City branch line was opened in 1912. The line from Jalandhar City to Mukerian was constructed in 1915. The Mukerian-Pathankot line was built in 1952. Pathankot-Jammu Tawi line opened in 1971. India's first and largest DMU shed at Jalandhar holds 90 units placed in service in rural Punjab. It also houses two BEML built rail buses which operate on the Beas-Goindwal Sahib line. The station have 5 platforms with stoppage of 112 trains. 27 trains originates/termiantes at this junction.
