Deccan Queen Express --- Being introduced on 1st June in the year 1930 as a weekend train during the days of the British rulers, 'Deccan Queen' is the second train in India having ISO 9000 certification and a dining car which recently completed 88 years of service to the nation. Earlier used to ferry rich patrons from Calyan (Kalyan) to Poona (Pune) who wish to attend horse racing at Pune Race Course during the weekends. Soon it was converted to a daily service starting from Bombay Victoria Terminus (now CSMT) to Poona due to increase in patronage. Deccan Queen is India's first long distance, electric loco hauled, superfast passenger train with vestibuled coaches. This is also the first train to feature a dinning car & a Ladies only carriage. Currently this train plys once daily, to & fro, between Mumbai CSMT & Pune - a distance of 192.2 km with an avergae journey time of 3 hrs & 10 mins. The 17 coach rake comprises 4 AC Chair Car, 7 Reserved Non-ac Chair Cars, 3 Unreserved Non-ac Chair Cars, 1 Dinning car cum Pantry & 2 GSLRD coaches. Type - WGSCZ, WGSCZAC, WGCAB & GSLRD.
