6057/58 Saptagiri Express - one of very few trains of Indian railways which once used to boast of a dedicated unique livery (other surviving trains with dedicated liveries are Deccan Queen Exp, Chamundi/Rajyarani express etc.), used to ply with sparkling green-yellow striped coaches between Chennai Central & Tirupathi. The uniqueness of this rake was that an electric loco (usually WAM4 # 21232 or WAP1 # 20001, # 20005 of same unique livery) always used to get attached at the Chennai central end & a MEMU face towards Tirupathi end. Loco used to pull the rake towards Chennai & push the rake from behind towards Tirupathi thus making it a somewhat unique push-pull service. The 16 coach rake comprises one ac chair car, six reserved non-ac chair cars, eight unreserved chair cars & one general SLR coach. Saptagiri Express used to take 3hrs 15mins to cover total distance of 147 km with seven halts between Chennai Central and Tirupati Main with an average speed of 45 km/hr & a peak speed of 110 km/hr. During its hey days it was one of the most famous & popular train of Southern Railway. With same train mumber, bearing same name a train runs on the same route with same timmings with a rake of normal blue ICF coaches but that old charms of intercity train journey riding those coaches of unique sparkling liveries somewhere goes missing. Type of coaches - WSCZ & WSCZAC.
