Kolkata Metro NGEF Rakes (2000 Series) --- Nine more rakes were manufactured by Integral Coach Factory, Chennai in collaboration with New Government Electrical Factory (NGEF) and were put into operation in the next phase of service in 1990 when Kolkata Metro rail became fully operational in the entire stretch from DumDum to Tollygunj. These rakes are powered with higher acceleration than their predecessor. The colors of these trains were dark yellow with a maroon stripe at the bottom, later they were repainted in white with a maroon stripe and now they are deep cream with a blue band at the bottom. The rakes are marked as 8N. Total Horse Power of these rakes are about 5221 hp with an average operating speed of 30 kmph (55 kmph max.). These rakes runs on 750 V DC drawn from electrified 3rd rail. With 19.5 meter coach size average capacity of each rake of eight coaches is 2400 persons approx.
