HPS-32 --- Built by the Vulcan Foundry Limited of Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, England in the year 1963 with a 'Ten-wheeler' 4-6-0 type wheel configuration. This majestic broad-gauge steam locomotive belongs to HP class meant for Heavy passenger duties during the post-war times. Originally a HP class loco weighs 51 tonnes with a maximum speed of 65 kmph and tractive effort of 9 tons, equipped with Walschaert's valve gear. It was modified by adding superheating and thus re-classified as HPS (Heavy Passenger Superheated) class.
This was actually a loco of East Pakistan Railway, which was gifted to Indian railways by Bangladesh authoritis after their independence. Currently preserved at Regional Rail Museum, Howrah. Photographed by Rudranil RoyChowdhury. D.O.P. - 7th March 2018.
