Mecheda

Mecheda --- It serves Mecheda, a town in Purba Medinipur district of WB. The Howrah-Kharagpur line was opened in 1900, so as Mecheda station. The station has a large yard to accomodate several coal-filled frieght trains headed for the Kolaghat Thermal Power Plant just 1 km away. The station is a favorite hub for rail-fanning by TT. The station have six plaforms with halts for 37 passenger trains. Nearly all EMUs of HWH-KGP section stops at Mecheda. Station code - MCA.
