Mumbai CST --- Commemorative postage stamp issued by IndiaPost on the Heritage Railway Stations of India. The first imposing heritage station of the Railways came up with Victoria Terminus, housing the office of GIPR Company. This building was started in 1878 & it was completed & thrown open to public on 1st Jan 1888. The ceilings are very high & exude a sense of space & freedom. This magnificant monument was designed by F.W. Stevens. The decorative carved details was executed by native carvers from models supplied by Mr. Gomez & students of Bombay School of Art. The buildings are faced with a light buff coloured Kurla stone with dressings, cornices & moldingsin Porbander & Seoni stones. All the work was entirely executed by indigenous labour. Issued on 16th August 2009 with denomination 500p (₹ 5/-).
