bg sentinel (1926)

Built in 1926, by The Sentinel Waggon Works Co. Ltd. Shrewsbury, UK. Wheel configuration 0-6-0 & with 80hp this broad-gauge loco was used by Public Works Dept (Irrigation Scheme Project) in Punjab until 1944. Then it was used as shunter in Amritsar Workshop of NR. These Super-Sentinel locos have got a vertical boiler inside a fully enclosed bonet. Steam from the boiler in turn provide power to a high-powered motor, which in turn transmit power to the wheels through chains. This BG specimen of this unique class of steam loco is preserved at National Rail Museum, New Delhi.
