Another interesting indoor exhibit at NMR museum is this pinion wheel set. The X class steam locomotives of NMR are provided with two sets of pinions, each set having two Cog wheels. When two pinions assemblies on the locomotive are rotated, the teeth of each cog wheels engage on the rack bars, available in the middle of the track transmitting the force to propel the locomotive forward.
