water refilling pump (1964)

Once these water refilling pumps were common sight across the meter gauge sections of Indian railways. They are used for refilling water to the steam locomotives and can still be seen at the Coonoor-Mettuplayam meter gauge section of Nilgiri Mountain Railway. Featured here is a 1964 built water pump manufactured by the The Pioneer Iron & Steel Corporation, Belur, Howrah.
