MLR - 741

MLR-741 --- Like the other ML class steamers of Matheran Light railway this 2 ft gauge 0-6-0 locomotive was also built by Orenstein & Koppel AG of Berlin, Germany in the year 1907. And as discussed earlier, these were probably the only class of locomotives in India to be fitted with articulated Klien-Lindner axles for a flexible wheelbase, which enables the locos to negotiate sharp curves on the steeply graded hill lines of MLR. After retiring in 1982, this ML class # 741 is currently plinthed outside Matheran station. Photogrphed by Mr. Asit Baran Das. D.O.P. - 12th February 2014.
