LHB Rake MAS-MYS Shatabdi Express --- This service was introduced in 1994 by the then Railway Minister CK Jaffer Shariff and is the fourth in the series of Shatabdi service introduced in the country. It covers a total distance of 500 kms in approx 7 hours. On 26th July 2011, the LHB (Linke Holfmann Busch) coaches were introduced, in place of the ordinary AC second sitting coaches for the Shatabdi Express, having composition of one First AC Chair Car, seven AC Chair car and two end-on-generation cars. These coaches have fire-retardant qualities, are anti-telescopic and cannot turn turtle in the event of any derailment or collision. The First AC Chair Car have a seating capacity of 56 passengers and AC Chair Cars with a seating capacity of 78 passengers. All the seven LHB AC CC coaches are refurbished coaches that were earlier being used on the New Delhi-Amritsar Swarna Shatabdi Express and have undergone intensive overhaul at the ICF - Perambur in 2012 following complaints of breakdown of the heating and cooling equipment used for catering on the train.
