Victoria Tramcar Restaurant --- There may be many places for hangouts in todays Kolkata but the romance of taking a ride in century old tram system of the City of Joy, is still irresistible and irreplaceable. And to make the tram ride more special, one can head to Victoria Tramcar Restaurant - first of its kind in India, for a culinary ride. A quintessential Bengali meal on board an air-conditioned tram car as it trundles through the lush greenary of Maidan and meandering through the iconic structures of the city like Shahid Minar, the Victoria, the Cenotaph, Eden Gardens etc while travelling from Esplanade to Khidderpore depot and vice versa - is truely a welcome treat for the patrons aboard. Inaugurated on 13th October 2018, this tramcar is sufficient to make any date special, this experience has a dose of nostalgia & a feel of poshness as it promises a fine dining experience with a wide variety of Tandoori, Continental, Bengali and Chinese cuisines.
The Victoria Tramcar restaurant can accommodate 27 guests — 16 in the first coach and 11 in the second & as of now it makes two trips daily, of about two hours each, over lunch and dinner. Need to book the seats at least 24 hours in advance as entrys are restricted for general public. Meals per head generally costs ₹ 799 (plus tax) for veg and ₹ 999 (plus tax) for non-veg.
