HGC-1598 --- This magnificant giant steamer was built by Vulcan Foundry Ltd, Newton Le Willows, UK in the year 1909 with 'Consolidation' type 2-8-0 wheel arrangement. Originally built as HG class, it was re-classified as HGC after adding superheating. A superheater converts steam into dry/superheated steam to decrease the loss of energy due to condensation, leading to an increase in the efficiency of the locomotive. This broad-gauge loco used to haul heavy freights traffic in NWR. Currently preserved at National Rail Museum, New Delhi. Photographed by Rudranil RoyChowdhury. D.O.P. - 19th September 2018.
