B-26 --- This B class (non-standard) locomotive was built in the year 1870 by Sharp, Stewart & Co. Atlas Works of Manchester, UK. This broad-gauge locomotive with 'Six-Wheel-Switcher' 0-6-0 wheel arrangement & a 4-wheel tender, was equipped with outside cylinders and a Stephenson valve gear system with a Salter spring-balance-type safety valve fitted on the dome. The slender and graceful steamer was fitted with a two-tone whistle to give a very pleasing whistle tone. The locomotive was used for mixed traffic operations between Lucknow and Cawnpore (Kanpur) section of the Oudh & Rohilkhand Railway (O&RR) before being decommissioned in 1921. It shot to fame after hauling the first train on Haridwar-Dehradun section of O&RR which earned this loco a permanent place at National Rail Museum where it was preserved for public display.
