kolkata tram - 653

Kolkata Tram - 653 --- Trams in Bombay (now Mumbai) begun to ply between Parel and Colaba for the first time on 9 May 1874 i.e. more than a year later than Calcutta Tramways. It was operated by the then Bombay Electric Supply & Tramways Company (BEST). Later in 1947 the company got municipalised & changed its name to Bombay Electric Supply & Transport (now Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport). The company however closed its tramway system in 1964 due to huge loses. To commemorate 150 yrs of Bombay Tramways CTC has painted one of its Burn Standard tramcar with road number # 653 in the BEST livery. Framed by Roy while it was resting at Esplanade junction on 13th November 2014.
