Dankuni --- Dankuni is a railway junction station on the Howrah-Bardhaman chord and is located in Hooghly district of West Bengal. It is linked with both Howrah and Sealdah. The Howrah-Bardhaman chord, a shorter link to Bardhaman from Howrah than the Howrah-Bardhaman Main Line, was constructed in 1917. In 1932, the Calcutta chord line was built over the Wellington Bridge (now Bally Bridge) joining Dum Dum and Dankuni. Presently it is the site of Diesel Locomotive Component Factory. Trial production has started since August 2012. The components manufactured are being supplied to Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW). The work is ongoing for another factory - The Electric Locomotive Component Factory. Dankuni is the ultimate favorite railfanning paradise with a blend of nearly all types of eletric loco variants & at times there might be some fortune with various diesel variants as well. The station have 5 platforms. Of which PF - 1A is never utilized till date due to some unknown reason. This station have stoppage for only EMU trains. Station code - DKAE.
