Balangir

Balangir --- The station serves Balangir city in Balangir district of Odisha. It is the cultural hub of Western Odisha famous for Kosali folk arts & dance. Balangir's name is said to have been derived from Balaram Garh, a fort, built here in the 16th Century by Balram Deo, the 19th Raja of Balangir (Ex-Patna State) and founder of Sambalpur kingdom. The current township came into existance after 1871. The station is a impiortant rail head for nearest tourist attractions. It has 3 platforms with stoppage of over 49 trains. Station code - BLGR.
