50 years of ICF --- Set up in 1955 with Swiss collaboration in Chennai, ICF was initially to manufacture 350 III class iron compartments which can be refurbished & make-fit for operations in zonal railway worshops. The idea however didn't worked out well. So eventually a furbishing unit is also set up in ICF and the production capacity also increased gradually with the period of time. As of now ICF produces 1500 fully furbished coaches per annum. IndiaPost issued a stamp in 2005 marking 50 years of ICF with denomination 500p (₹ 5/-).
