100 years of SER - Steam Locomotive of 1900 --- On 28th 1987, IndiaPost issued a set of four stamps on the occasion of Centenary of South Eastern Railway. This 400 paisa stamp features a narrow-gauge RD class steam loco No.688. Built by Nasmyth Wilson & Co. Manchester, UK, in 1929, this loco was used by Bengal-Nagpur Railway (BNR) on Raipur-Dhamtari narrow-gauge section. Thus it was classified as RD class. With a wheel configuration 2-6-2 it also used to have a 8-wheel tender which was rare among NG steam locos. Preserved at National Railway Museum, New Delhi.
