fire trolley - 'yadgir'

Built in the late 1800s, these trolleys are hand-hauled and hand operated for use on station platforms, each is fitted with a rudimentary hand pump. These were placed on station platforms, where road vehicles could not pass. This fire trolley was used on the Nizam's State Railway. This cart was built by Merry Weather & Sons Engineers, Longrace & Lambeth, London. This trolley is named as Yadgir - after a small town near Guntakal. The town is famous for sand. These trolleys are termed as one of the prized possesions of NRM.
