Kolkata Metro ICF Medha AC Rakes (4000 series) --- These state-of-the-art trains are completely different from existing AC BHEL/Knorr-Bremse fleet of Kolkata Metro Line 1. These trains are by far the best amongst the entire Line 1 rolling stocks as far as passenger comfort is concern. After the initial hiccups these trains are praised by passengers for the comfort during braking and acceleration. These rakes have 3-phase alternating current motors, regenerative braking, stainless steel body, CCTV cameras, and better passenger information system. These y-gen Medha rakes come with total horse power of 6000 hp with an average operating speed of 60 kmph (90 kmph max.). These rakes runs on 750 V DC drawn from electrified 3rd rail. With elongated coach size (20.3m) and wide vestibule for easy coach-to-coach access, average capacity of an ICF Medha rake of eight coaches are 3120 persons approx.
