Originally occupied by the Toda, the area came under the rule of the East India Company at the end of the 18th century. It is a land of picturesque picnic spots. Used to be popular summer and weekend getaway for the Britishers during the colonial days. The scenery, as it unfolds during the trip, is breathtaking, awe-inspiring and fantastic. This beautiful botanical paradise was first brought to the public eye by John Sullivan, Collector of Coimbatore district in 1819.
