Standing tall as a testimony of the golden era and witnessing the changing times around....Built by Swiss Locomotive & Machine Works, Winterthur, Switzerland in 1925 for the rack & pinion tracks of NMR. These meter-gauge X class locos have 0-8-2 wheel arrangement & have 4-cylinders, the additional cylinders being used for the rack wheel. Currently plinthed outside Coonoor railway station as a beautiful outdoor exhibit.
