YB - 429

YB-429 --- This meter-gauge passenger locomotive was built by Nasmyth Wilson & Co, Patricroft, Manchester, England in the year 1935. This YB class steamer, with pacific 4-6-2 wheel arrangement & 10 ton axle load, was equipped with Caprotti valve gear. It used to serve mg sections of Bengal and North Western Railway (BNWR), later in Oudh and Tirhut Railway. Finally retired in 1978 from Izzatnagar shed from where it was gifted to National Railway Museum, New Delhi where it is currently preserved as outdoor exhibit. Photographed by Rudranil RoyChowdhury.
