BG LHB AC 2-Tier --- These are air-conditioned vestibuled 2-tier air-conditioned coaches developed by latest German LHB (Linke Holfmann Busch) technology (later taken over by Alstom in 1998). They are considered to be "anti-telescopic", which means they do not get turned over each other, if the train derails or gets involved in a collision. The improved suspension system of LHB coaches ensures more riding comfort for the passengers compared to conventional ICF rakes. The air conditioning system of the LHB coaches is of higher capacity compared to the ICF rakes and is controlled by a microprocessor which is said to give passengers better comfort than the ICF coaches during summer and winter season. These coaches have a distinction of not having any fan which further makes the coaches lighter. The coaches are designed for an operating speed up to 160 km/h and could go up to 200 km/h. However, they have been tested up to 180 kmph. Seating/sleeping capacity - 54 persons. Two exits on either ends. Total four toilets - two on each sides, in which three are Indian style squat & one is western style. Facilities like extra cushioned seats, fan, curtains, side curtains at the aisle, bottle holders, snacks table, reading lamp, magazine holder & hooks are provided. Used mainly with Rajdhani, Duronto, AC express, Premium exp, etc category trains. Type - LWACCW.
