In close proximity of the station is the Maayer Ghat previously well-known as Pagla Babur Ghat, is also a place where holy mother Sharada Maa spent her last days. It is reckoned as one of the many ancient ghats on the Hooghly River. It was earlier called Rogo Meeter's Ghat after Raghu Mitra, son of Gobindram Mitra, the black Zamindar, and once one of the wealthiest and most influential natives of Kolkata, in the early days of the British Raj. A steamer jetty next to Baghbazar Ghat ferries passengers to Howrah and other points of Kolkata.
From Bagbazar we will now proceed to our next destination towards south - Sovabazar Ahiritola.
