Gitanjali --- A special tram journey was inaugurated on 11th December 2013 to celebrate Rabindranath Tagore's 100 yrs of winning the Nobel Prize for Literature way back in 1913. This tram car specially refurbished at Nonapukur Workshop where it gets back its articulated traditional look. It was galored & decorated for the occasion and was giving a free rides to citizen across the various tram routes of Calcutta. The exteriors & interiors were designed especially with carefully chosen paitings & some of the hand-writings of Rabindranath Tagore. The most senior tram conductor of Melbourne & Metropolitan Tramways Board - Mr. Roberto D'Andrea accompanied the tram throughout the day and interacted with people. An initiative taken by Calcutta Tramways Corporation (CTC) & Kolkata-Melbourne Tram Yatra commitee members. Roy takes a tour (from Hazra to Esplanade) to be a part of this historic voyage hence representing TT as well.
