A new diesel-powered miniature 1:8 scale Toy Train set at National Rail Museum. The 5-car trainset runs along the peripheri of the museum park along its mini tracks layed more or less adjacent to the original Museum Joy Train (Toy gauge) track. The train is designed to haul adults and children of all ages around the layout and each car can accommodate a combination of adults and children. Covering a length of 1.5km, it travels at a leisurely pace which provides time to view all the interesting outdoor exhibits, waterfall, bridges, tunnels and artifacts around the NRM. There are two locos of this mini toy train train - one is a miniature version of WDG5-50001 'Bheem' and the other one is a miniature version of famous steam loco WP-7200 'Azad' featured here.
The locomotive with ride-able coaches were built by C.C. Engineers Pvt. Ltd. this is India's first and only 1:8 ride-able Steam Locomotive at National Rail Museum, New Delhi. The steam locomotive is powered by a hydraulic engine which runs on steam and the face is mimicked to WP-7200 'Azad'. Hauling capacity of up to 6 carriages and maximum speed of up to 20kmph, this steam locomotive is truly an engineering marvel.
The ride costs ₹ 100 per head in normal days and ₹ 200 on weekends & Govt. holidays. There is no concession on ticket prices for children. Photographed by Roy.
