The entire fleet of Kolkata East-West Metro consists of BEML rakes. These state-of-art, air-conditioned trainsets have the following salient features:
~ Trains runs on 1435 mm Standard Gauge. Drawing 750V DC current from Third Rail with Single-arm Bottom Current Collector mounted on Motorized bogies.
~ Train Composition standardized to six car rake with DMC-TC-MC-MC-TC-DMC compostions.
~ Passenger Carrying Capacity - Driving Motor car (DMC) is 316 persons (Seating 43, Standing 273 + Motorman/Guard).
~ Passenger Carrying Capacity - Motor Car (MC) & Trailer Car (TC) is 343 persons (Seating 50, Standing 293)
~ Control of Acceleration and Deceleration by Variable Voltage Variable Frequency (VVVF) Inverter blended with Regenerative Braking. Regenerative Braking blended with pneumatic braking by electrical, and BP back up brake by Driver's brake valve. Wheel mounted disk brakes.
~ Each coach is 2.88 m wide with stainless steel body with longitudinal seating arrangement. Length of the cars - DMC: 21.05 m & MC/TC: 20.8 m
~ Bolsterless type bogie with air spring with Conical Bonded Rubber Spring primary suspension & Air Spring as secondary suspension.
~ Squirrel Cage Type 3-phase Induction Motor with IGBT converter. Service Acceleration : 1 m/Sec2 ± 5%. Emergency Breaking deceleration : 1-3 m/Sec2
~ Roof mounted and self contained type air conditioner with 45 kW cooling capacity.
~ Electrically driven Externally sliding type Aluminium doors and double glazed, toughened, Laminated glasses for doors & windows
~ Maximum Operational Speed of 95 kmph with an average of 60 kmph.
~ Equipped with CBTC (Communication Based Train Control System) with Automatic Train Protection (ATP)
~ Also equipped with Integrated System with Fibre Optic cable, SCADA, Train Radio, PA system etc.
