YP-2151 'Rewari King' --- The YP class was the most standard passenger locomotive operational on the meter gauge system of Indian Railways, post-independence. The YP class locos with Pacific 4-6-2T wheel arrangement was the 2nd largest produced class of steam locomotives on the Indian Railway system counting to a moderate 871 units, most of them built by CLW and Telco. These majestic 938 hp locos comes with 10.65 ton axle load with a max. speed of 75 kmph. These locos during their heydays were a hit among the crews as they were the most aesthetically pleasing locomotive designs with their large high-pitched boilers and smoke deflectors often painted with insignias of the shed they belonged.
Built by Tata Engineering & Locomotive Company (TELCO) in the year 1959, this restored meter-gauge steamer used to have 6290 kgs of tractive effort. This living heritage earlier belonged to Mhow MG Steam Shed and used to roar the tracks in Mhow-Akola-Khandwa section during its heydays. Christened as 'Rewari King', it is now preserved at Rewari Steam Loco Shed and is often steamed-up on special occasions. Photographed by Somsubhra Das. D.O.P. - 16th August 2019.
