MLR-739 --- A total of three 2 ft gauge 0-6-0 locomotives were used to serve the Neral-Matheran narrow gauge section of Matheran Light Railway (MLR). These locos were thus classified as ML class and were built by Orenstein & Koppel AG of Berlin, Germany in the year 1907. These were probably the only class of locomotives in India to be fitted with articulated Klien-Lindner axles for a flexible wheelbase, which enables the locos to negotiate sharp curves on the steeply graded hill lines of MLR. The ML class locos were in use until 1982 after which they were phased out. The ML class # 739 finds its place at National Rail Museum, New Delhi where it is preserved with care.
