F-734 --- First locomotive ever to be manufactured in India - built in the year 1895 by the Ajmer Workshops of the Rajputana Malwa Railway. This meter-gauge loco with 0-6-0 wheel configuration is equipped with Stephenson valve gear along with inside connecting rods and was in service for mixed traffic operations in erstwhile RMR (Rajputana Malwa Railway) later in Bombay, Baroda and Central India Railway (BB & CI). It remained operational on MG routes from Delhi to Indore and upto Ahmedabad till 1938. Preserved at National Rail Museum, New Delhi. Photographed by Rudranil RoyChowdhury.
