Frecciargento (ETR 600) --- The Frecciargento or The New Pendolino or ETR 600 is a class of high-speed tilting trains built by Alstom Ferroviaria. These trains connects Rome to Venice, Verona, Bari/Lecce, Lamezia Terme/Reggio Calabria on both high speed lines and traditional lines. The trains reach speeds up to 250 kmph. These trains are air-conditioned, equipped with sound system, LCD touch screen videos and power sockets at seats.
The name, Pendolino, is used to identify a family of high-speed, tilting-technology trains, produced in Italy. These trains owe their name to the mechanism enabling them to tilt when going round a bend. The maximum tilt of 8 degrees allows the trains to reach a speed that is up to 35% higher than that of conventional trains, whilst assuring the greatest safety and comfort for passengers. The trains have the following characteristics: usually consist of seven cars - 4 motors and 3 trailers which weighs over 390 tons with overall power output of 7,400hp. With total 430 + 2 seating capacity a train can achieve a maximum speed of 250 kmph. Each train is fitted with electro-hydraulic tilting actuating system, European Train Control System (ETCS) & HVAC system with built-in redundancy.
