The train service is reliable and punctual, does not involve a lengthy ferry crossing and is cheaper than the Kolkata - Dhaka bus services. The terminal points are Dhaka Cantonment and Kolkata Stations respectively. Though Dhaka Cant. is not a true terminal stations but it is possible to continue by local train to Dhaka's main station Komolapur.

Total seating capacity is 418 passengers for the BR rake and 461 plus 12 (For Specially-abled) passengers for the IR rake.

Bangaldesh Railway Rake composition -- 1 AC Cabin coach - 36 seater, 1 AC Chair Car - 80 seater, 2 Non-AC Chair Car - 92 seater each, 2 CDR (with built-in dining car) - 51 seater each, 1 Power Car - 16 seater.

Indian Railways Rake composition -- 1 AC First coach - 27 seater, 2 AC Chair Car - 73 seater each, 1 Non-AC Chair Car - 108 seater, 2 SLR - 90 + 6 seater each (6 seats for specially-abled), 1 Power Car - No seating.
